Poirel selected as commencement speaker

The Graduate School has selected CTE alum Chris Poirel as the student speaker at the Fall 2013 Graduate Student Commencement ceremonies. Chris graduated with a Ph.D. in Computer Science in October 2013 after working with T. M. Murali. In his thesis, Chris developed novel graph algorithms to connect top-down and bottom-up approaches in systems biology. He received the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship in 2010 and a Cunningham Fellow in 2013. He was a co-author on a paper that won the Best Paper Award at the 2010 ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Biomedicine.  Chris is currently a Senior Data Scientist at RedOwl Analytics.
