Title: Computational Epidemiology: A Network Perspective
Presenter: Dr. Madhav Marathe, Department of Computer Science
Research group: Network Dynamics and Simulation Science
The H1N1 pandemic of 2009, the 2014-2015 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the recent Zika outbreak and the ongoing flu season serve as a reminder of the social, economic and health burden of infectious diseases.
The talk will provide an overview of the state of the art in computational networked epidemiology, and will describe NDSSL’s work on providing analytical services for near real-time planning and response during the 2009 H1N1 swine flu and the recent Ebola Outbreak in West Africa.
Computational challenges and directions for future research will be discussed.
